How to decorate for Winter for a cozy feel

It can be sad when Christmas is over and the Christmas comes down, but the feeling doesn’t have to end!

Let me show you how to decorate for Winter for a cozy feel in your home after the Christmas decor comes down!

How to decorate for Winter

Every year is different for me after Christmas. Some years I want to do a little Winter decor, and some years I’m ready to put it away.

If you are NOT ready to put the twinkle of those trees away and lose that cozy feeling…this post is for you!

(Or save it for a year when you ARE feeling this way)

This year I decided to do a little Winter transition in my hearth room. Here it is decorated for Christmas for reference!

Traditional Christmas decorating ideas

These are the steps I took to get this new Winter look:

  1. I removed all red from the room
  2. I left items that were neutral and would work for winter (greens, blacks and blues are colors that all look SO cute with winter decor too)
  3. I shopped the rest of my Christmas home and gathered some additional neutral/green items that I knew would go in this room for Winter.
  4. I made sure to have a focal point (for me, it was the layering of signs on the mantel) that really draws your eye in. (Those are designs from my PNG packs made into signs from Smallwoods home)
  5. I of course left my flocked trees BARE for that twinkle effect.
  6. Cute pillows are a MUST and this winter tree cover from my Pillow Cover club were just perfect! Along with the snowflakes (now sold out) from my club a while back. (Can’t forget the back side of the tree shaped pillow I also sold this holiday season- too cute!)

When you decorate for Winter you don’t have to start from scratch. You take what you’re already working with for Christmas and REMOVE what you don’t need and then MOVE in what you can use from around your home.

It’s truly a pretty easy thing to do and a great way to prolong the season! Do you do any winter decorating in your home?! Would love to know!
